How to take care of yourself in winters

Hello everyone ..Today I am going to discuss about how to prepare yourself for the winter and how to take care of yourself during this particularly crucial season especially with small kids around. This season assumes extreme importance in terms of your health and the way your body behaves unlike summer when the natural healing property of the body takes over . As you know the body has a natural healing capability in tropical climate or in the summer months . Those who are in colder climates can easily relate that most of the surgical operations are conducted during the summer months because the body can easily recover from a surgery or operation during summer months unlike in winter months where the recovery rate of the body is very slow. So I would like to start by saying that during the winter months, first of all you need to give special emphasis on your diet plan. During this month your diet need to be nutritious and it should be as far as possible a balanced diet. Also include lots of fruits and raw vegetables in your diet because they constitute the much needed fibres for your digestive system.

The second most important thing during winter months is your lifestyle .Your lifestyle is the one which decides the metabolic rate and the recovery rate of the body . So it is very important to exercise your body during the winter months. While 20 minutes of exercise can give the required impetus to your body during summers, the body requires slightly more charging up during winters because the body takes more time to warm up during exercise. So effectively you should be doing at least 30 to 40 minutes of exercise everyday during winters .This indeed rejuvenates the cells of your body and your body will be prepared to face the extreme temperatures during this month and with exercise the blood circulation increases and the entire body is fully oxygenated to prepare yourself for the tough days ahead

Thirdly the most important thing in winters is to hydrate your body that is to drink enough water. Fluids in the body are needed to keep you fully fit. The importance of hydration needs to be more emphasised in winter months because you don’t feel thirsty during this season whereas in summers you tend to drink more and more water. Hence the importance of emphasizing on drinking water is more during winters . If you do not want to drink water then you can go for juices or soups or any kind of fluids which you feel like drinking during this month but this is an important aspect which many people forget to follow.

Fourthly and most importantly our body has certain critical points which need to be covered during the winter months starting from head to toes . First of all it is the head itself which has a large surface area which can actually radiate heat and vice-versa. Wear a cap or hat. Next is your neck and chest with proper thermal wear. Thermal suits are available , make sure to wear upper and lower thermals. Last but not the least is your feet ,it needs to be covered properly by wearing a pair of socks. Best protection you can give is by covering yourself properly during this month especially when you are going out. Even if you are going to do jogging or running or you are doing any kind of physical exercise it is important to keep your body covered and once you start sweating you may take out the cap or remove jacket. While entering into the cold climate you need to be fully covered up especially during the transition stage to winter.

By following above steps and necessary precautions you can easily sail through winters.
