A Day at Kadamakkudy

The Beauty Unexplored…..Kadamakuddy Islands

This is about a day well spent at Kadamakkudy islands. The main motive of my visit was to explore the ‘shaapu’ food(toddy shop) as we call it locally where everything is served hot and spicy.

What welcomed me there was the mesmerising view of small islands and the breathtaking beauty of nature. I ended up halting here and there just to breathe in all the serene and calm vibes it offered.

Both sides of the road enroute was picturesque. Finally I reached the toddy shop I was waiting for. Thanks to Google. It was a 100 m walk from where the car was parked. You can also reach there by boat/ferry. I reached there by road.

You should not expect a well equipped hotel, as this is just a toddy shop which serves toddy and other accompaniments. I relished on pork roast, clam roast, beef fry, duck, kappa and fish curry and few Appams. This has really made my day. I didn’t try toddy but others in the family relished it with all the food accompaniments. Even my toddler was busy snacking on the appam.

Sorry for this pic, the thought of taking pictures came to me only after finishing the sumptuous meal….

After having all the delicacies, I strolled through the surroundings engulfed in coconut trees. The breeze and the waters really touched my soul. I was happy and content with my newfound paradise because you never know which all places the search for delicious food takes you into. I was able to unravel and unwind in this short and crisp trip and this experience will stay with me forever.

This place is highly recommended for those people who love Shaapu food and for those who love to spend some time in the tranquility of nature.

It is located at the north of city centre,Kochi Kerala. I reached there after crossing Pizhala bridge. There are other ways to reach here too.
